Nitrous
Oxide (N2O)
History
Nitrous
Oxide (N2O) was discovered by English scientist Joseph Priestly
in 1793 who was also the first to prepared and isolate gases
such as oxygen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia and
sulfur dioxide. Then Humphrey Davy coined the term "laughing
gas". For the next 40 years it was used as a recreational
drug.
Then,
in the early 1840's it started to be used in clinical dentistry
and medicine.
Today
this drug is very popular on the drug scene for it's short
acting but strong effects and cheap price
Description
N2O
it's a colorless and odorless gas commonly used by dentists
as a low potency anaesthetic and analgesic agent to help allay
fear and anxiety on phobic patients.
N2O
has almost no effect on either respiratory or cardiovascular
systems.
It
comes in different ways like: tanks (which can be purchased
at chemical supply houses), whippits (which can be found in
any food store as Whipped Cream) and crackers ( which are
small tanks which are sold for about $10 on smoke shops and
stores alike).
Dangers
and Precautions
N2O
is counterindicated to people with mental or psychiatric disorders.
It should also be avoided by the pregnant population since
there have been some reports of possible increased rates of
spontaneous abortion.
N2O
most be administered with at least 20 percent oxygen. The
lack of oxygen can cause "hipoxia" (decreased oxygen
content of the blood) This can cause death or brain damage.
Don't ever inhale N2O with a mask or in a closed place (e.g.
closets or cars). The gas most be inhaled from a balloon or
plastic bag which you fill from the tank. This is because
the gas can give you frostburns.
Homemade
N2O should be avoided.
When
you inhale N2O you almost completely lose you motor skill
so do it while sitting on laying down
As
with any drug, don't ever drive or operate heavy machinery
while under it's effects.
The
N2O obtained on racing shops is usually mixed with Hydrogen
Sulfide which when inhaled can cause serious brain damage
Excessive
or prolonged use of N2O can cause hyperesthesia and hyperalgesia.
N2O
inhibits the B12 on your body.
Effects
Some
of the effects are:
Disorientation
Visual and auditory hallucinations
Fixated vision
Paranoia (sometimes)
Analgesia
Euphoria
Most of the effects last about one minute. It may take a few
more minutes for the residual effects to dissipate.
